Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the research institute located?
It is located in Karuizawa-machi, Kitasaku-gun, Nagano Prefecture. About 1 hour from Tokyo by Shinkansen, and about 15 minutes by car from Karuizawa Station.
Is remote work possible?
It varies by position. Data scientists and administrative/PR staff can work remotely 2-3 days a week. Researchers are generally required to be on-site due to experiments, but some tasks like paper writing can be done remotely.
Is there housing support?
If relocation is required, we provide moving expense subsidies. We also offer support for finding housing in the Karuizawa area.
Can foreign nationals apply?
Yes, applications are welcome regardless of nationality. However, a level of Japanese proficiency necessary for work (conversational level or higher) is required. We also provide visa support.
How long does the selection process take?
